A Timeline of Contractor In Charge
Contractor In Charge Is Launched
Contractor In Charge officially launched as an extension of our clients’ offices. We built the company to operate inside home services businesses, supporting call handling, bookkeeping, and operations as if we were part of their internal team.What began with two clients quickly expanded as demand increased.
Building Specialized Departments
Our team grew from two people into a multi-department organization. Accounting services were formalized with degreed accountants and finance professionals, each with a minimum of five years of experience.At the same time, our call handling center expanded to approximately 40 internally trained specialists, consistently achieving an average booking rate of approximately 85% on inbound leads.
Exploring AI to Support Home Services Businesses
In 2023, we began actively exploring AI solutions to support home services businesses. Our work started with Buck.AI, where we partnered closely and assisted in building early versions of the platform.
This collaboration reinforced an important belief: technology must enhance people and processes—not replace them. Our focus was on reducing friction while maintaining accountability and service quality.

Learning the Real Needs of Home Services Businesses
Before Contractor In Charge officially launched, we were already working closely with home services businesses through after-hours call handling and accounting services. Those early relationships helped us understand where these businesses struggled most—missed calls, inconsistent processes, and limited financial visibility.Several of those early clients continue to work with us today.
Growth Through Real-World Demand
As our clients grew, the need for additional call center agents and expanded accounting services followed. Our systems, training, and processes were built around consistency, accuracy, and accountability—allowing us to scale without sacrificing quality.
Becoming Subject Matter Experts for the Trades
By this point, Contractor In Charge was supporting an average of 150–160 home services businesses nationwide. Our leadership team expanded to include dedicated leaders across call center operations, accounting, and professional services, supported by a part-time CTO.
We became recognized as subject matter experts in call handling, dispatching, bookkeeping, accounting, and field service management software specific to the trades.
AI in Call Centers and Accounting
In 2024, our focus expanded into AI applications for call centers and accounting. We explored AI voice solutions and began automating accounting workflows to reduce manual work, improve accuracy, and increase speed.
